I had the best Mother’s Day. Nothing too crazy/special, but it was just the best day. Plus, it was our two year wedding anniversary! So it was an extra special day, filled with so much love 🙂 It’s rare for me to get Tim to go out to the club my parents are members at and it’s even rarer to get my dad to go out there… and somehow, my mom and I were lucky enough that they BOTH joined us for a day at the beach. It’s typically just me, her and the babies, but we had our boys and it was awesome — the only person missing was my little brother, but he’ll be down to visit soon, I hope 🙂 and I can’t wait to see him.
Taking babies to the beach is not my favorite thing in the world… you know with the sand and the lathering of the thick, baby sunblock and the million things you have to bring with you… but it’s so worth it. Liv loves the water and would literally spend all day splashing around, saying ‘WOW!!!’ at the top of her lungs every time water hits her face (I just die). It was Lyla’s first beach day and she was such a trooper. She literally just chilled in the DockATot, under an umbrella all day. She was happy as a clam. Also, if you don’t have a DockATot (learn more here), I highly recommend you get one. I am a big fan of co-sleeping, but I know how dangerous it is, so the DockATot helps eliminate the risks involved. It’s also so convenient in virtually any situation where you need your baby to be placed safely. I ‘dock’ her around the house all the time and now I docked her at the pool. It’s is definitely on my ‘must have’ list for babies.
So basically, we had an amazing day filled with family, live music, delicious food (fish tacos are my jam out by the beach), and a few of our friends were out there enjoying Mother’s Day as well, so impromptu hangs made it even that much better.
And I have to share a mommy moment — It’s so crazy because I feel like everyday I learn something new about Liv. She is this little ever-changing human and every single day is a new adventure. And it’s so cool to see blatant personality traits from you or your husband come out of them… for instance, we were sitting around the pool and Tim had a bucket of beers and they came with a tray of limes. Liv went straight for the limes and of course I’m like ahh! and reaching for them right away, but Tim goes “no it’s cool, let her try one,” so I sat back and omg. She loved the limes. She literally carried around all of the limes and sucked them dry, it was the funniest/weirdest thing I’ve ever seen. Tim and his dad are obsessed with tart things like that and both have been since they were young and now Liv is the same way. Isn’t it so cool to see random traits like that passed down for generations?? My DSLR was out of reach during these moments, so I just snapped a few pictures on my iPhone, but they are just too funny to not share:
I’m a grown adult and I can’t stand the taste of lemons or limes, so it’s hilarious to see a baby all about it. But anyways, little things like that literally bring me so much joy each day. The last few weeks have been filled with so many new behaviors (some good…some not so good) and traits coming out, almost daily. She’s growing up so fast, I can barely keep up.
I hope y’all had an amazing Mother’s day and have had the best week! And although this isn’t a typical fashion post, everything is still linked at the end and ready to shop!
